Katie is a Partner in the litigation department, specialising in property litigation, which most commonly involves landlord and tenant disputes. She acts for commercial and residential landlords and developers with large property portfolios, based predominantly in Central London.
She deals with a range of commercial property disputes including contested lease renewals under the 1954 Act, forfeiture of commercial leases, dilapidations, claims for rent arrears, claims for breach of covenant and service charge disputes.
In terms of residential property matters, she often deals with claims for possession, disrepair and breach of lease. She also acts for commercial and residential tenants, including clothing retailers, art galleries, restaurants and hair salons.
In addition to this specialism, Katie has several years’ experience in dealing with contractual disputes, personal injury claims and high value debt recovery, which includes insolvency action, such as service of statutory demands and bankruptcy/winding up petitions. As a result, she is often instructed by commercial estate agents and property consultants, in dispute over commission fees.
As well as commercial work, Katie has experience in handling property litigation for charities, and those in the not-for-profit sector, and has acted for a number of national and local charities including the RSPCA, Sue Ryder and Scope.
Katie is a member of the Property Litigation Association and the London Solicitors Litigation Association.
